Craftsmanship, fine art, and publishing come together in Passé Présent Futur, a new collaboration between Emmanuelle Luciani, Fondation d’entreprise Hermès, and Loose Joints Publishing. As part of the Fondation’s Artists’ Residencies series, Luciani invites four artists—Jenna Kaës, Mounir Ayache, Salomé Chatriot, and Jacopo Pagin—into Hermès’ production ateliers, where they explore the savoir-faire of artisans working in silk, leather, crystal, and metal. Guided by Luciani’s interdisciplinary Southway Studio ethos, each residency blurs the line between classical craft and contemporary myth-making.
The book features a new photographic series by Marcelo Gomes, whose tactile, sensuous images follow the artists at work, alongside complementary contributions by French photographer Tadzio. Through these visuals and interviews with both artists and artisans, Passé Présent Futur becomes an experimental publication offering an intimate, deconstructed look at the process of making.
