Ensemble is delighted to present an exhibition of Florence Cuschieri’s La ronde des hirondelles. Winner of the LUMA Arles Dummy Award 2024 and published by Chose Commune, the project is an evocative documentation of the daily lives of migrants who found refuge at Chez Marcel, a self-managed space near Briançon.
Through volunteering at the space, the Franco-Maltese artist formed close connections with several of the residents who had crossed the Franco-Italian border on foot. In the remote valleys of the Hautes-Alpes, her imagery follows their journeys – movements she likens to the circular flight of swallows, or ‘la ronde des hirondelles’.
